This new Slate strategy might be unwrapped by Microsoft in this event. A brief introduction about the company’s future Slate plans might be discussed. Invitations were sent out by Microsoft to this world wide launch event, in Newyork city on October 11. AT&T would be exclusive launch carrier for Microsoft as reported by the Wall street Journal. A report by Neowin.net says that several un-named OEM’s and Microsoft have been closely working to develop a real answer to the iPad.

The software giant is feeling worried that the windows sales are slowly cannibalized by the iPad sales and eroding the recent boom in the sales of the net book. As said by Reuters, Stave Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, at the London school of Economics, while speaking to staff, students and journalists said that users of their products can expect to find out new, windows-powered slates, by this Christmas. The rumored introduction of windows tablets, next week, coincides with what Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft, said on Tuesday, at an event in UK.

The details about the maker of the hardware and launch date of the device i.e. whether before or at the time of Christmas, were not disclosed by Ballmer, as reported by Reuters. Microsoft partnered with HP, to introduce a touch screen tablet nicknamed a “Slate PC”, even before Apple announced the iPad, early this year. There are even rumors that the product was trashed, by the acts of HP purchasing web OS mobile operating system and palm, while the product powered by the windows-7 has not yet launched.

Three versions were shown by Ballmer of which Microsoft refers to as ‘Slate PC’ now. Instant-on capabilities and multi touch screen are hosted by the HP slate. This announcement by Microsoft and HP regarding the HP slate can be seen as a preemptive strike against Apple, whose touch screen tablet is going to be announced, next month. The multi-touch screens could be controlled by either fingers or a stylus and were designed for writing. The response to the product i.e. a prototype of HP’s Windows 7 tablets, which was demoed on you tube, was widely jested at. Although, windows-7 powered tablets, still have to see high profile releases whatsoever, iPad has gave great success to Apple, where about 3.27 million devices were sold in he first three months of its availability. Ballmer even admitted that Apple sold many iPad’s than that he would like them to sell.

According to the claims of some reports, iPad has been a reason for a significant diminution in the sales of the net book, since the time of its launch. Microsoft’s windows operating system is runned generally by a low power, low cost net books.
