New Year’s Day Affects iPhone Alarms

We all feared the ‘Millennium Bug’ back in 2000, which was said to be a computer “killer” if not prevented in time. Luckily, very few computers were affected, but who knew that 2011 would have caused an unforeseen bug on iPhone alarms?

Twitter went ablaze on the 1st of January 2011 when a number of users expressed their frustrations with once off alarms ceasing out. Many said that the problem experienced almost reminded them of the Daylight Savings Time trouble experienced back in November. Back then both single and recurring alarm alerts experienced failure.

Currently, iPhone users will not be in a position to make use of once-off alarm alerts on their smartphones, due to the bug.

It is unknown what caused the bug and tech experts are currently looking into the problem. It is also unknown whether iOS 4.2.1 is the only operating system affected or whether earlier versions may also experience the same problem.

In order to resolve the problem for now, users are advised to create a recurring alarm alert at the times they need to be woken up.

Apple has not yet commented on the bug, but we do expect them to release a bug fix or operating system upgrade in the near future.

We have, however, come across a recommendation by an unknown iPhone user on the Internet, recommending that users simply leave their iPhones, as the problem may rectify itself by the 3rd of January. This is totally unconfirmed.

  1. hahaha I am so happy I just bought a Blackberry. I used to have an iphone and if I should have been too late at work today i would have been fired. Thank god I just got myself an Blackberry for Christmas. Now I don’t have to worry about an iphone alarm clock not working.
