The name it self says that the device ‘Flipout’ is a square gadget that will be flip opened with the swivel hinge. The phone resembles Nokia 7705 in this feature. The hinge is firm and opens with an assuring click. This phone targets that group of consumers who doesn’t want to take a featured phone, style- conscious people and teenage group.

This model features a screen of 2.8 inches, though small it is usable. It is a conventional LCD screen with a resolution of about 320×240 pixels. When compared to all those high-end mobile phones in the present market, the size of the screen appears pixilated and tiny, but it is all in the view of the beholder. People who are new to smart phones and are used only to those low resolution phones, this phone seems to be a little upgraded phone.

When compared to other phones of mid-range, this device is smart and speedy. This phone loads the applications without much delay and the zooming facility with a pinch while browsing gives a pleasing experience in using the phone. Initially it was thought that there will be a lot of difference in the performance between a high range Android phones and the mid- range mobiles. But if this type of phones, in mid-range, is so fast and speedy, it can be recommended to friends and family.

This phone runs Android 2.1 operating system, with MOTOBLUR feature in it, which is a welcoming advancement in the Android 1.X phones, which are known to be mid-range ones, in the past. This mobile comes with a software package like Maps, Wi-Fi Hot spots, navigator. Family Map and Radio. Disappointingly, it cannot be uninstalled. Flipout model has a complete BLUR version, unlike the other Android high end devices from Motorola like DROID X. though it doesn’t have that tinge of high end phones, it is a smart buy for users who are new to mobiles.

Flipout features a QWERTY keyboard, with the tactile keys. With few minutes of adaption, one can easily text or use this keypad. The key buttons are small and space bar key lies just below the screen i.e. above the home button thus preventing accident slippage on to the home button and returning to home. An on screen keyboard of QWERTY is also present on the device, when it is closed.

It also features a 3.1 megapixel camera, with no autofocus and flash, and hence it is good only for daylight photography. The audio clarity is also good except for some disturbance.
